Phillips: State budget brings schools closer to constitutional system
State Rep. Debbie Phillips, D-Athens, said Wednesday the state operating budget approved Monday evening comes the closest yet to funding public schools in a sufficient manner.

As your State Representative, I am working to create responsive and responsible solutions to the problems facing the district and the state. It’s important to me to hear from you regularly, so that I know what your concerns and priorities are. To that end, I have been holding roundtable discussions, open office hours, and providing periodic newsletters in an effort to listen to you. This website is another tool that can help to keep you informed, and make sure I have the chance to hear your views on important issues of the day.
I am working every day to bring the necessary resources to southeastern Ohio so that we can realize the full potential of the our region. I am pleased to serve on the Health, Education, Economic Development, Insurance and Alternative Energy committees. These committees give me the opportunity to work on the critical issues that are challenging so many of our friends and neighbors in these difficult times. By making smart investments in our strong economic sectors, we have the chance to ensure a brighter future for our region.

I feel humbled and honored to have the chance to serve as your State Representative in such a challenging time. In these tough times, I am strengthened by the knowledge that the people of southeastern Ohio are hard-working, innovative people. We’re in this together, and we have to make the most of this moment to find ways to work smarter and better with the resources we have, and to target our investments to grow our local economy. I am confident that by working together we can strengthen our region and create a vibrant local economy.
